A council has managed to seize 140 properties since April in
a major crackdown on fraud. Southwark
Council - which manages 54,000 homes - has launched a number of initiatives to
tackle housing fraud, targeting those that have obtained tenancies using fake
documents. The crackdown has also been
successful in the area of Right to Buy, with the council responding to the
heightened risk of fraud since the rate of discount was increased to £75,000
earlier this year. The council has already managed to block three Right to Buy
