The government has pledged £1.7 million to its ‘gold
standard’ initiative to improve homelessness services in England. Councils must reach a set of key achievements
to attain ‘gold standard status’ and the first 10 to do so will offer advice to
other local authorities looking to reach it. These achievements include
offering a comprehensive prevention service, helping householders faced with
repossession and adopting the no second night out scheme, which aims to prevent
a person spending a second night sleeping rough. Read more on the Gov UK
website.
