5,840 in Nottingham Will Lose Out to Government Housing Benefit Reform

A GOVERNMENT reform of housing benefit will result in an "onslaught on the vulnerable" in the East Midlands, says a campaign group. The National Housing Federation warns more than 58,000 people from vulnerable groups across the East Midlands will lose out by an average of about £520 a year under proposed housing benefit changes. According to the federation's calculations, up to 5,840 in Nottingham will lose out. The benefit reforms will impose caps on housing benefit of £400 a week on homes with four or more bedrooms, £340 for a three-bedroom home, and £290 a week for a two-bedroom home.
