Housing minister Grant Shapps has confirmed that the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) will escape the coalition Government's cull of quangos.  Speaking on the future of social housing, Shapps said that the HCA will "continue to exist". Responding to questions about the organisation’s future, he said: "Yes, there will be an HCA. It will be a slimmed-down and reduced HCA, but it will continue to exist." Shapps also pledged to "free up housing associations and other social housing providers from central government targets and red tape" to enable them to do more to contribute to the wellbeing of their tenants and social regeneration in general – such as helping more people to find work.  Read more on the Regeneration and Renewal website.
