Social landlords could fund £6,500 of energy efficiency improvements to homes under Conservative plans announced by Grant Shapps, shadow housing minister. Landlords, businesses, utility companies and charities could all get involved in the Green Deal scheme, which will see them fund improvements, then claw back the investment over 25 years from the reduced bills.
