The latest national statistics on Statutory Homelessness for July to September 2009 were released on 10 December 2009, under arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority. The key points are:
*10,360 applicants were accepted as owed a main homelessness duty during the quarter.
*This is 28 per cent lower than during the same period in 2008.
*56,920 households were in temporary accommodation, 21 per cent lower than the same date last year, and the largest year on year decrease since the peak in 2004
