Is The Future Of Housing Mutual?

The Minister for the Cabinet Office Tessa Jowell has met housing co-operative tenants and staff to discuss the role of the mutual model, where tenants take responsibility for their own housing. The Minister is keen to know if mutuals could play a bigger role in the UK housing market. Ms Jowell recently gave a major speech outlining her view that mutuals should have a major role in public service delivery and reform. The Minister announced plans to create an independent Commission on Ownership, chaired by Will Hutton, to investigate the issue. Read more on the HouseMark website.
