Lord Leads Fight For Tower Block Sprinklers

A member of the House of Lords is hoping to push through a bill to ensure sprinklers are fitted to buildings less than 30 metres high. Building regulations currently require sprinklers to be fitted in all new residential blocks more than 30 metres high. Lord Lyndon Harrison’s Building Regulations (Amendment) Bill has just been through the second reading stage in the House of Lords.Six people died in a blaze at 42-metre-high Lakanal House in Southwark on 3 July last year.
