The Tenant Services Authority has cut its budget by an additional 10% in a bid to survive the 'bonfire of the quangos' threatened by the new coalition government. The social housing regulator has been under threat since new Housing Minister Grant Shapps made it clear last year that he hadn't been impressed with its performance and questioned whether it had a future. In a statement, the TSA said: "The additional 10% cuts were announced in our open Board meeting this week. "We announced in January that we would cut our budget from £38.5 million to £35 million - almost 10%. "Then on Wednesday this week it was discussed in our Board meeting that we will make an additional 10% administrative cut - or about £2.7 million. "This is from our administrative budget of £27 million - ie this budget doesn't include our costs for programmes such as Tenant Empowerment Programme. Read the full story on the 24 dash website.
