An ALMO which banned its staff from flying England flags on their cars has been forced into a U-turn. Bolton at Home had emailed its staff last week telling them that flying the St George’s flag or displaying other merchandise on their cars as part of the football world cup celebrations could discriminate against residents from other countries. But on Thursday the ALMO issued a statement saying it had changed its mind over the ban. A spokesperson said: ‘In the light of the decision taken by other public sector organisations within the town, Bolton at Home feel it would be inappropriate to treat our staff differently. ‘Therefore with regards to the displaying of flags on vehicles we are happy for our staff to display flags for whichever national team they wish.’
