Tenants Vote for Stock Transfer

Stockton-on-Tees council tenants have voted in favour of transferring their ALMO to a housing association. Tristar Homes, which manages 10,400 homes on behalf of the council, plans to transfer from an ALMO to a new housing group, which it will form together with Housing Hartlepool. The new body would be able to invest £140 million on improvements and repairs over the next five years. Eighty-nine per cent of tenants voted in favour of the transfer, which will also provide £13 million for local environmental improvements, and more resources for tackling anti-social behaviour and improving the repairs service.
