Benefit Reforms 'Will Make 200,000 Homeless'

The coalition government’s controversial housing benefit reforms will push homelessness figures up to the worst level in three decades. More than 750,000 people in London and the south east will be at risk of losing their homes if the Department for Work and Pensions changes are pushed through. NHF chief executive David Orr said housing benefit caps could see poorer people pushed from wealthier areas into more rundown neighbourhoods. The NHF’s research claims 200,000 people could also be made homeless by the reforms. There are currently 140,000 homeless people in Britain. Read the full story on the NHF website.
