Council Offering Empty Homes Grants

Householders are being asked to report long-term empty homes in their streets so Richmond Council can negotiate with owners to return them to use. A £60 million fund has been launched by the Mayor of London to deal with abandoned or empty homes, which means the council can offer grants to owners to bring properties up to scratch, with the authority finding tenants for three years. Low interest loans are available for people wishing to upgrade an empty home and live in it themselves. As well as working with owners to bring homes in to use, the council can sometimes take enforcement action if needed to bring a property in to use. Read more on 24dash.
