A local authority has said government cuts are forcing it to axe around 700 jobs to save £33 million, harming its work with vulnerable people. Stoke-on-Trent council is looking at slashing 100 housing jobs to save £2.5 million as a part of major cost-cutting plans, with a further 70 to go in regeneration. The 100 jobs from housing, environment and neighbourhood services would mean a budget saving of 6 per cent and a reduction in staff of 6 per cent. Read more on Inside Housing.
