The Tenant Services Authority has confirmed next year’s guideline limit for housing association rents will be increased by 5.1 per cent. As revealed earlier this month, rents will continue to be set using a formula which uses the September retail price index plus 0.5 per cent. RPI in September was 4.6 per cent, allowing an increase of 5.1 per cent (plus £2 a week) in 2010/11. The TSA has also revealed rent caps per property size for 2011/12. These replace the formula rents where they are lower than the guideline limit. The rent caps range from £119.67 for a one bedroom property to £154.85 for a six bedroom property.
