Shapps Rapped by Commons Watchdog

Housing minister Grants Shapps has been chastised for failing to answer adequately his Labour counterpart’s questions in parliament. The House of Commons procedures committee has upheld three complaints by Labour shadow housing minister Alison Seabeck about Mr Shapps’ responses. The CLG has been requested to ‘take immediate steps to answer the questions’.
Ms Seabeck claims that the failure of the CLG to supply satisfactory answers is hampering her efforts to counter the coalition government’s controversial reforms. ‘I need answers in order to frame thoughts, particularly with the localism bill coming up,’ she said. ‘I haven’t had answers to questions like this before from the CLG. Clearly there have been problems.’ The procedures committee upheld three out of four complaints made by Ms Seabeck. Read more on Inside Housing.
