Social landlords will be given a key role in the government’s plan to overhaul anti-social behaviour policy, the Home Office has said. Councils and housing associations will be expected to share information and follow a protocol agreed with other organisations operating in their neighbourhoods. Crime minister James Brokenshire said the government wanted to improve the handling of ASB complaints. Computer systems should be used to help housing associations and others share information, he indicated. ‘The technology exists to allow agencies to introduce a smart way of handling such complaints and a simple way of sharing information - they need to use it.’ The revised approach will be trialled over seven months until July in eight areas: Avon and Somerset, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, London, south Wales, Sussex and West Mercia.
