Improvement Rights Axed From Tenancies

Tenants given the new-style fixed term tenancies will face restrictions on how much they can improve their homes, government papers reveal. Explanatory notes for the government’s Localism Bill, published last month, say ‘the right to improve and to be compensated for improvements will not apply to a flexible tenancy’. All tenants will still be entitled to repairs, which will have to be paid for by the landlord. Read more on Inside Housing.
