Councils Urged To Reconsider Section 106 Deals

Councils will be urged to reconsider section 106 agreements made before the recession. Grant Shapps will write to local planning authorities encouraging them to consider rewriting the agreements that see developers making a financial contribution to the local community. Many were drawn up before the recession, on developments that have been hit with delays. Mr Shapps said: ‘I am calling on councils to become “agents of growth” for their communities and bring back to life those development sites where house building has stalled.’ Read more on Inside Housing.
