Moves to boost the housing industry in the government’s
autumn statement do not go far enough, the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH)
has warned. The proposals, announced by Chancellor George Osborne, fail
to sufficiently acknowledge the vital role the industry can play in growing the
economy and are a missed opportunity to get to grips with the urgent housing
shortage. Osborne also ignored calls to lift local authority borrowing caps to
