One of the biggest council house building programmes since
the 1960s is under way in Nottingham . Over the next four years, 350 new homes for
rent are planned for sites around the city. The programme will cost £60m and
the first phase has just been officially begun. Alex Ball, in charge of Housing
& Regeneration at the Labour controlled city council, said the traditional
council house was coming back into fashion.
