Council house tenants will be able to buy their home for
less than a third of its value under new Tory “Right to Buy” plans. The maximum
discount for a house is being increased from 60% to 70%, Communities Secretary
Eric Pickles said. The Cabinet minister said that the proceeds would be
ploughed back into building affordable homes. But Shadow Emma Reynolds said the
coalition had failed to deliver on promises of affordable housing. The Labour
MP said: ”The Tory-led Government has failed to build the homes our country
needs. Only one home has been built for every seven homes sold.” Read more on
