Pensioners should be made to pay the Bedroom Tax too,
says a Conservative MP. Julian Brazier has said he is “not happy” OAPs are
exempt. In a letter to a constituent, he claimed many pensioners could move and
downsize “in order to free up accommodation for young families”. The letter
emerged in the same week David Cameron refused to guarantee pensioner “perks”
such as winter fuel allowances and bus passes. Around 1.3 million pensioners
would be hit by the charge on “spare” rooms if the Government’s exemption was
