The government has announced that it has released more
than 430 sites of unused public land for development. Kris Hopkins, housing
minister, said that enough brownfield land has been sold to build 68,000 houses
and to support 135,000 jobs. Mr Hopkins has urged local councils to follow the
lead of central government by also making their land available for development.
