Government has reported that a record 37,414 long term
empty homes came back into use in England this year (Oct 2012- Oct 2013),
reducing the total number of long-term empty homes to its lowest recorded rate
ever. If the figures are confirmed (they
are currently provisional) the total number of long term empty homes in England
will have reduced to 222,428. The new
figures are reported within government statistics on calculations for New Homes
Bonus allocations. The figures are
derived from council tax data and show the net reduction in homes that have
been empty for more than 6 months. Read more on the Empty Homes website.
