The number of housing starts were 31 per cent higher in
Q1 of 2014 in comparison to the same period last year, figures released by the
government reveal. The seasonally
adjusted data from the CLG showed there were 36,540 house starts in England
between January and March this year. Completions in the period were 27,670, a 12 per cent
increase on the previous year, and annual housing starts to the 12 months to
March, 133,650, were also up by 31 per cent compared to the year before.
Completions were up annually by 4 per cent. The CLG has tied this increase into
the launch of help to buy in April 2013. View the full statistics on the Gov UK
