Latest Government statistics show that 13,650 households
were accepted as homeless by their local council in England from
October-December 2014 – a 6% rise on the equivalent quarter last year.
Throughout England, the proportion of acceptances due to the ending of an
Assured Shorthold Tenancy was 30% - up from 25% last year. Figures show soaring
numbers of people becoming homeless following the loss of a privately rented
