The British Property Federation has joined the
ever-growing number of dissenting voices speaking out against the government's
plans to extend the right to buy to housing associations. The Federation,
described as the "single most important voice" of the UK's property
industry, issued a statement denouncing the new RTB. The BPF believes the
extension of the right to buy would "further reduce the supply of
affordable housing, as it will limit the amount of finance housing associations
can generate to fund and build new homes". It added that this could have a
"negative impact on housing associations’ ability to invest in estate
renewal and so would make it harder to get urban regeneration schemes
