English councils can now bid for a share of £10m to
prepare brownfield sites for new Starter Homes. The HCA and the mayor of London, which administers
housing funding in the capital, have today jointly published a prospectus for
the first wave of Starter Homes cash. Starter Homes, offered to first-time
buyers at a 20% discount, will replace other forms of affordable housing in
Section 106 planning agreements. Councils can bid for funds to remediate sites,
carry out ecological work, site investigations and demolitions. Download the
prospectus from the HCA website.
