The number of landlords hiking up the rents they charge
has dropped to its lowest level this year, falling to 25% in October according
to the latest report from the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA).
In its latest monthly Private Rental Sector (PRS) report, it found the number
of letting agents reporting rent increases for tenants fell to a 25% in
October, compared to 32% in September. Demand for rental properties dropped in October,
alongside supply of available housing – a trend typical of the time of year,
ARLA said. The organisation’s member agents registered 33 new tenants on
average per branch this month, the lowest amount this year. Read more on the
