Rents in the private market continued to rise across
Britain over the last year, according to the latest figures from the Office for
National Statistics (ONS). In the 12 months to January 2016, rents rose by
2.6%, up from the 2.5% in the year to December 2015. Private rental prices grew
by 2.7% in England, 0.3% in Wales and 0.8% in Scotland in the 12 months to
January 2016. Furthermore, rental prices increased in all the English regions
over the year to January 2016, with rental prices increasing the most in London
