Housing has dropped down the list of public priorities
following a surge in concern about defence, terrorism and foreign affairs. The latest monthly Issues Index by polling
company Ipsos Mori shows housing has dropped from fourth to seventh in the
rankings of issues the public is most concerned about. The results show 16% in
December considered housing a ‘most important’ issue, five percentage points
down on the 21% for November. Concern about housing had increased substantially
in the months of October and November, with 20% and 21% of the public citing it
as a ‘most important’ concern in those two months respectively, the highest
