rescue buyers from ransom leases collectively worth millions of pounds. The CLG
has reportedly given its strongest hint yet as to a ban on developers selling

some properties impossible to sell on. The CLG appears on side over its own
figures showing four million leasehold homes in England – roughly one in five.
Nearly three million of these are flats, which have traditionally been
leasehold. But 1.2 million houses have leases, including 167,000 detached
homes. In response, the CLG is offering ‘more details shortly’ of a
consultation on ending leaseholds for new houses. Read more on 24housing.
