Councils are calling on the government to increase the funding available to support struggling renters ahead of the evictions ban ending, as London boroughs reported a 30% increase in those needing help since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Umbrella group London Councils that said boroughs expect demand for Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs) to “skyrocket” when landlords restart possession proceedings.
