Poll Finds Tenants Would Forego Rent Cuts

The majority of housing association tenants do not want rent cuts which could damage their landlords, a poll has revealed. The NHF survey found 69% of tenants would forego a rent cut of 0.9% if it protected community services. Housing association rents are linked to the September retail prices index of inflation, which has come in at -1.4 per cent this year, meaning rents should fall 0.9 per cent from April 2010.
