With the suggestion that the Government may consider time limited social housing tenure and changes to Housing Benefit, are we seeing the emergence of 'tough love' welfare philosophy to stimulate economic growth through Labour mobility and curtail welfare dependency? Or is it just Daily Mail inspired Tory cost cutting? If it is 'new welfare' then there is a discussion to be had and not just reactions of horror (thank you Shelter) at every cost saving measure. Maybe it is time for a welfare revolution, but we must have a grown up debate about it before we rush to the guillotine.
