Landlords Need to Improve Support for ASB Victims

More than two-thirds of social landlords believe they need to improve the way they support victims of anti-social behaviour, according to a new survey. The Chartered Institute of Housing has published a baseline survey of ASB teams across the country. It found that although 80 per cent of housing associations and local authorities took a victim-centred approach to anti-social behaviour, 63 per cent said they would appreciate advice on how to improve the way they protect witnesses and victims. The report, launched at the same time as the CIH’s ASB team, also says communication between agencies needs to improve. Sixty per cent of landlords said the most common barrier to their services functioning effectively was a lack of knowledge and understanding of other agencies, while 40 per cent said their organisation was not recognised as a key player.
