Data Shows Empty Homes Decline

The number of homes in England empty for more than six months has fallen to 296,000, according to Halifax. This is the first time in three years the number of empty properties had fallen. The building society said the number had dropped by 6 per cent, or 21,000, in the year to April 2010. Its survey indicated 61 per cent of empty homes were in the north of England.
