Plans to make residents wait 10 years before they can
apply for council housing are set to be scrapped by Barking and Dagenham
Council, whose Labour administration today announced its intent to cut the
limit to three years. It comes just three months after the old executive –
which was also Labour, but made up of different councillors – signed off the
flagship policy at a cabinet meeting. If passed by the council’s Labour cabinet
