Just 28% of voters think that giving tenants of housing
associations the Right to Buy is a good idea, a poll by YouGov suggests. Following
the sector’s criticism of the Conservatives’ manifesto pledge to extend the
Right to Buy to £1.3million housing association tenants, 57% of voters think it
is the ‘wrong priority’ with 14% unsure of the value of the policy. Even among
those that voted Conservative in 2010, nearly half (48%) think that extending
Right to Buy is the wrong priority, with 41% saying it is a ‘good idea’ and 11%
