Jenrick Outlines Green Commitment


Housing secretary Robert Jenrick has made a commitment to a new green standard to tackle the climate crisis and keep household energy bills low. The Future Homes Standard would see fossil fuel heating systems, such as gas boilers, banned from new-build homes by 2025. They will be replaced with cleaner technology, including air source heat pumps and “cutting-edge” solar panels, explained the government. Jenrick said: “Building new homes isn’t just about bricks and mortar; I want to ensure everyone – including developers – does their bit to protect the environment and give the next generation beautiful, environmentally friendly homes that local communities can support.” Read more on the Planning Portal.

Housing Secretary Says He’ll Have ‘No Ugly Homes Built In The UK’


At the Conservative Conference, the Housing Secretary of State, Robert Jenrick, said that ugly homes have no place in his future vision for UK housing. “The government is committed to building the homes this country needs, but it is not all about bricks, mortar and numbers. Too often, new developments come at the expense of beauty, quality and design. This shouldn’t be the case and the Conservatives are determined to deliver homes that families and communities are proud to call their own,” he said. Read more on The Negotiator website.
