Right to Buy Sales Hit Rock Bottom

The number of homes sold under right to buy fell by 97 per cent in less than a decade, it has been revealed. Figures generated by Shelter’s new housing databank show that only 2,300 homes were sold under the scheme in England in 2009/10, with only 2,870 sold the previous year. This is down from a peak of almost 70,000 sold in 2003/04. As recently as 2007/08, 12,000 right to buy homes were sold. View the databank on the Shelter website.
