Derby Council will reduce its health and housing budget by £5 million over the next three years, from £75 million to £70 million. The council needs to make £26.8 million savings before 2014. All staff have had their pay frozen for two years, and two council care homes are expected to close. The council is consulting on reducing staff levels, which will result in either 570 redundancies or 370 redundancies and reducing pay for other members of staff. Read more on Inside Housing.
