A Government shake-up of planning legislation will reverse the decline in house building and give communities a greater say over developments, a minister has said. Communities Minister Greg Clark said the Localism Bill would slim down national planning guidance which currently runs to 900,000 words, "the equivalent of two copies of War and Peace". But Conservative Laurence Robertson (Tewkesbury) said there was a problem with the Government's proposals. He said: "There is also the right of local people to decide on housing levels. But in my experience, understandably, very few people want very many homes built close to them." Read more on 24dash.
