Public housing starts will drop 40 per cent between 2010 and 2013 as developers adapt to funding changes, according to forecasts. The Construction Products Association says the decline will make the government’s ambition to see 150,000 affordable homes built over the spending review period ‘a difficult target to achieve’. Figures show the 8 per cent increase in starts during 2010 will be followed by an 18 per cent drop in 2011, then a 22 per cent drop, then a 5 per cent drop. Starts will not increase until 2014, with a 5 per cent rise followed by 10 per cent in 2015. Read more on Inside Housing.
