Victim Support Service Helps Evict 'Rowdy' Family

Derby Homes has successfully evicted a family which caused serious problems around a housing estate. Neighbours were subjected to regular rowdy nuisance behaviour from the family and their visitors at the property. In 2008 the family was supported by the Family Intervention Project (FIP), which proved beneficial for the children. However, the tenant was unwilling to change her behaviour resulting in withdrawal of FIP support from the family at the end of 2009. To prevent further disruption in the area Derby Homes commenced possession proceedings in early 2010. Initially witnesses were reluctant to come forward due to safety fears, but with the help of the Derby Homes Victim and Witness Support Officer and the Neighbourhood Safety Officer, further witnesses came forward. The case went to court in February this year and the Judge awarded a possession order to Derby Homes. Read more on the Derby Homes website.
