The social housing regulator has had no involvement in negotiations over landlords’ bids for funding to build new homes. The sidelining of the Tenant Services Authority has prompted concerns that it will only realise if landlords’ have been pushed to stretch their assets too far when it is too late. The Homes and Communities Agency is negotiating with housing associations over their bids for the government’s £1.8 billion affordable rent programme. The talks cover delivery agreements, including rent levels and the proportion of re-lets converted to affordable rent at up to 80 per cent of market rents. Read more in Inside Housing.
