The CLG has refuted suggestions that the coalition is about to announce plans to build 450,000 new homes each year. News reports surfaced say that Downing Street was preparing to set a target of 450,000 new homes each year. Inside Housing reported in April this year that government advisors had told developers that they wanted to increase the development of new homes to 450,000 each year. However, the CLG said there was no truth to the 450,000 target. A CLG spokesperson said: ‘The housing strategy due later this year is still under development and so the exact contents are still to be confirmed. However, ministers are scrapping top-down targets.” Read more on Inside Housing.
