A housing provider in Newcastle has pledged £1million of investment to close 100 homes after tenants backed a management transfer from housing association the Home Group. Leazes Homes, a charitable subsidiary of the council's ALMO Your Homes Newcastle, has taken over the management of 91 properties in Blucher Village - a former mining community near Newburn. Home group, which owns or manages more than 54,000 units, announced in its annual report last month plans to dispose of nearly 5,000 homes and embark on an "office rationalisation programme" over the next six years in a bid to focus its attention on its key strategic locations.
