A London council plans to retain its ALMO despite its history of poor performance. Waltham Forest Council is proposing a new contract with Ascham Homes, which manages the authority’s 12,400 homes. The council’s cabinet has agreed to set up a working group to ‘modernise’ the ALMO in a bid to create savings by sharing services and the cost of management posts with the council. A council spokesperson said it had not yet been decided whether this could include redundancies. Councillors will set out how the ALMO will be reformed and reveal how much money can be saved in a report due to be published in October. Read more on Inside Housing.
